Community Guidelines

These Community Guidelines govern the content members post to Sips and their conduct on the service. They apply to sips, photographs, notes, comments, lists, profiles and cocktails added to the catalog.

Authentic content

Members may post only drinks they consumed themselves, at the place they tag, with photographs they took. A cocktail added to the catalog must be listed under the name by which it is commonly known.

Legal drinking age

Sips is available only to persons who are at least 18 years old and of legal drinking age where they live. Members may not post photographs of any person who may be under the legal drinking age, and may not post any content showing a minor drinking.

Responsible drinking

Sips exists to record and assess the quality of cocktails, not the quantity consumed. Content that encourages heavy or dangerous drinking or drinking challenges is prohibited, as is any content that depicts drinking and driving or presents it as acceptable.

Respect for others

Criticism must be directed at the drink, not at the person who made or posted it. Harassment, hateful content, threats and the disclosure of another person's private information are prohibited. Members may not impersonate any other person, bar or brand, and must obtain consent before posting photographs in which other people can be identified.

Prohibited content

Nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, content involving illegal drugs, spam and advertising are prohibited.

Reporting and blocking

A member may report any sip, comment or profile from its menu by selecting the applicable reason. Reports are confidential, and the reported member is not told who made the report.

A member may block another member from that member's profile, or by selecting Also block when submitting a report. Once a block is in place, neither member sees the other's sips, comments or lists, and any follow between them ends. Sips does not notify the blocked member. Blocks can be removed in Settings.

Enforcement

Every photograph is screened automatically before anyone else can see it, and text is screened by a word filter. Photographs flagged by the automated screen are held for review by a person on the Sips team. Every report is reviewed within 24 hours.

Sips may remove content that violates these Guidelines. Serious or repeated violations result in suspension of the account, which may be permanent. A suspended account cannot be signed in to, and its content is hidden. If one of a member's sips is removed, it is marked as removed in that member's account. A member who believes a decision was made in error may write to hi@getsips.app.
